Miss Peregrine and More

With her dark beauty, Eva Green is a perfect casting choice for her upcoming role as Miss Peregrine in director Tim Burton’s film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. This film version of the best seller book written by Ransom Riggs promises to bring this story to life as only this combination of cast, director and composer can do.  Riggs documents his travels into Europe to scout out abandoned homes in search of the perfect one for his story. In his YouTube video, he describes the abandoned houses with clarity, expressing his thoughts about their pasts and purposes.

Eva Green, with her trademark smoky eyes, dark hair and piercing glances, has been a fan favorite of dark films in the past. It is no surprise that her fans are eagerly viewing the glimpses of every detail about this upcoming movie that are available on the Internet, even though she may not appear in these clips. Her fans are willing to wait for her.

Starring with Eva Green are Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Allison Janney, Ella Purnell, Asa Butterfield, and a total of 20 talented actors. With a soundtrack created by Danny Elfman, the film promises to be magical indeed. It is scheduled for USA release on December 25, 2016.

Eva Green has a long list of credits to her name. She is best known for dark films. One could say that she is typecast for leading roles in many of them due to her exotic beauty. But, in truth, she is an accomplished and skillful actress who has earned roles because she is versatile.

In 2014, she has four film credits to her name. These include Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, The Salvation, White Bird in a Blizzard, and 300: Rise of an Empire.  Her role as Artemisia in 300: Rise of an Empire may be one of her best known films for that year. She also starred in the television show Penny Dreadful, which is well recognized.

Part of her reputation for being an actress for dark themed films comes from her 2012 portrayal of Angelique Bouchard in Dark Shadows.  As the witch she wreaks vengeance on Johnny Depp as she curses his character into becoming a vampire. This film was also directed by Tim Burton.

Other Notable Film Credits

Her list of film and television credits is long, but some that have brought public acclaim include Perfect Sense (2011), Womb (2010), Cracks (2009), and Franklyn (2008). Her role as Serafina Pekkala in The Golden Compass (2007) brought her fame in the world of young film watchers, as the movie was popular with those who had read the book. She won a BAFTA Rising Star Award and an Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer for her role as Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale (2006). “Entertainment Weekly called her the fourth-best Bond girl of all time.”

Nominations

Green’s nominations for her work in Casino Royale include the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, the Irish Film & Television Awards for Best International Actress, and the National Movie Awards for Best Performance by a Female. She shared the nomination with Orlando Bloom for the Teen Choice Awards for Choice Movie Love Scene in the 2005 Kingdom of Heaven and the Teen Choice Awards for Choice Movie Liplock.  The nomination for the European Film Award for Best Actress was for her role as Isabelle in The Dreamers (2003).

The Best Bits of Trivia

One of the more interesting bits of trivia about Eva Green is that she is actually a “naturally dark blonde” who has been dying her hair for many years. She started dying it black when she was fifteen.  She has also said of her time studying drama in school,

“I always picked the really evil roles. It’s a great way to deal with your everyday emotions.”

How fitting for the dark character of so many enticing film roles to actually have blonde hair. Somehow, it seems just the sort of unexpected twists of plot and mysterious secrets that have made her famous.
